About Sweet Orchid Design

In July of 2020, Sweet Orchid Design was launched after Emily and her husband relocated from upstate New York to Northern California. It began as a hobby, blooming from the idea to preserve her wedding bouquet in the weeks following her wedding. The launch of Sweet Orchid Design was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. What was originally meant to bring in a small income by making projects for family and friends, quickly turned into a thriving business. In the coming months, countless hours were put into learning the proper safety and techniques to work with epoxy resin. By the fall of 2021, Sweet Orchid Design outgrew the space it was created in. Emily took a hiatus to focus on developing her knowledge and skills in business and management, while her and her husband began searching for their first home together.

Fast forward to 2024, Emily picked up a paintbrush after years without practicing traditional art. The goal was to paint a landscape for her husband as an anniversary gift. During that process, she rediscovered the joy that painting brings her, and by January of 2025 she started experimenting with her first set of gouache paints. Since then, Emily has dedicated much of her free time to learning the new medium and establishing her style.
